Invitations are one of the more expensive aspects of the wedding. I once met someone that paid $20/invitation and they had 300 guests. $6,000 for invitations???

So since the wedding, I’ve been still interested in all things weddings and amazed at the amount of money spent out there. I give hints and tips to friends all the time and thought it would be better to go ahead and revive this site to hold those tips and tricks. Looking forward to helping all the future brides out there!

Time to recap

Well, the wedding went off without a hitch. I’m so happy that everyone pulled together and participated in all the days events. A week after the honeymoon and I’m just now getting around to revisiting this blog.

Everyone has been asking for pictures and video. We have pics that our family and friends have taken and posted on Facebook. I will archive them on our “Life” blog. Professional pics and video will be coming soon. Well the pics will be ready long before the video and I’ll post them to.

I’ll still be blogging here to give my reviews on all the vendors and also things I learned looking back. If you were following this blog to follow Brian and I then perhaps you should visit http://life.brianandkimmie.com. There we’re documenting all things going on in our lives. Yay!

What a wonderful day. We had a few hiccups and some guest cancelled last minute but overall the day was better than I thought it would considering we winged a good bit of it.

Everyone loved our first dance. No one (aside from DJ) knew we were adding on swing to the end.

Video and pics will be up as soon as I gt them from folks. Probably after our honeymoon. yay!

Less than 3 weeks until the big day to end all of the big days coming up. My excitement is building, though I am feeling awash in things to do. The yard is looking better each day, and no to direct attention to the inside of the house to get things picked up, sold off, or given away.

Together we are occasionally a bit stressed as of late, but that’s to be expected. We’ve had an argument or two, but nothing bad, just stuff that needed to be sorted out. We’re the better for it.

Four Weeks

The energy is getting quite palpable. Lots of little things to be done, things to coordinate. But I know I am very excited to have folks here when I can finally say Kim is all mine.

Oh, who am I kidding?! In four weeks my arse gets branded with Kimmie’s name, not the other way around.

Especially now that we have the paperwork in hand! Woohoo! We are licensed to wed. Hasta la vista, single status.

I will say this: Georgia makes it pretty easy for its residents to wed. The bride and groom have to fill out some simple paperwork beforehand, and then only the officiant needs to sign anything, though that has to be returned in 10 days. But that’s it…

So in line with our wedding on a budget theme, we had originally decided to NOT go on a honeymoon right after the wedding. The fact that we had lots of out of town guests flying in and staying, had us believing that was the best decision all around.

But then I got an email…..from the happiest place on earth with a really good offer. So yes, we are going to Disney World for our honeymoon!

We will get to wear “Just Married” pins. Yay!

So how were we able to get a good deal? Last year we went to Disney with some friends and were able to cash in on the “free dining” promotion. I did the math and by paying just a little more we could get 10 day park passes with no expiration. Once you pass that 3-4 day mark, the price for additional days is really small. We didn’t think we’d use them again so soon.

But Disney’s email offered us free dining again! So how is this better than before? Well, your dining is tied to your hotel so by booking the on-site hotel and buying just 1 single ticket per person, we were able to get the dining deal for all of our nights of stay. Lets face it, the costly part of disney is 1) tickets (we already have) and 2) dining (we’re getting free). So for just about $800.00 we will be enjoying the nice sun in Disney for our Honeymoon for 5 nights, 6 days. The best part is that it will be during the first of the Star Wars Weekends for 2010. So my geeky Brian can experience that! Yay!

Dressing for Tea and Pics

A long awaited package arrived today which contains one of our last pieces of clothing: our Ao Dais!

We will wear these during the tea ceremony prior to the wedding, and, we will be wearing these at least part of the time during our upcoming photo shoot.
